크나큰 고통이 지난 뒤엔 / Dickinson

크나큰 고통이 지난 뒤엔, 형식적인 느낌이 오네 - 마치 무덤처럼, 신경들은 엄숙히 가라앉고 - 딱딱한 심장은 질문하네, 바로 그였느냐고, 고통했던 이가, 어제, 아니 수세기 전부터?   발은 무의식적으로 움직이네 - 땅 위건 공중이건 아니 허무이건 - 멋대로 자란 숲길 돌같은 수정水晶의 만족 - 이것이 최초의 순간 - 기억하고 있으리, 끝내 살았다면, 냉동된 인간처럼, 상기하라 눈[雪]을 - 처음엔 - 오한이 나다가 - 이윽고 황홀 - 그리고 해방이 오는 것을

 

 

 

After Great Pain, A Formal Feeling Comes  


After great pain, a formal feeling comes--
The Nerves sit ceremonious, like Toombs--
The stiff Heart questions was it He, that bore,
And Yesterday, or Centuries before?

The Feet, mechanical, go round--
Of Ground, or Air, or Ought--
A Wooden way
Regardless grown,
A Quartz contentment, like a stone--

This is the Hour of Lead--
Remembered, if outlived,
As Freezing persons recollect the Snow--
First--Chill--then Stupor--then the letting go--
